Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - Naas (Kildare) Dual Carriageway.

21.

asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, there are to provide fly-overs on the Naas dual carriageway, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In 1984, Kildare County Council submitted to my Department a preliminary report on the provision of two grade-separated junctions on the Dublin to Naas dual-carriageway at Kill and Johnstown. While the desirability of carrying out these works was recognised by the Department, they did not rate a sufficiently high priority to warrant inclusion in the schedules of major works included in the 1985 road plan.

I am at present undertaking a review of road development needs which will identify our priorities for the years immediately ahead. The timing of major road improvement projects, including the proposed grade-separated junctions at Kill and Johnstown, will be considered in the context of this review.
