Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - Proposed Establishment of Motor Taxation Office.

22.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will establish a motor taxation office on the northside of Dublin to cater for motorists in the areas of Howth, Baldoyle, Sutton, Raheny, Kilbarrack and Donaghmede.

On 16 April 1987, I announced the establishment of a working group comprising representatives of local authority staff and management, and officials of my Department. The group are examining: the adequacy of existing arrangements for renewing motor tax; the scope and cost of improving the existing system; the effectiveness and cost of alternative arrangements.

Pending receipt and consideration of the group's report, I do not propose to take any action in regard to the provision of sub-offices by Dublin Corporation or other licensing authorities.
