Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - State Bodies Bad Debts.

38.

asked the Taoiseach the provision for bad or doubtful debts made on the accounts of each State body or agency under his control in their most recent annual accounts and in the equivalent accounts for 1982.

There is no provision for bad or doubtful debts made on the accounts of the State bodies under the aegis of my Department, except by the Irish Film Board. It is the practice of the board to provide for a write-off of 50 per cent of all advances to film makers and development loans issued by the board. The 1985 provision on this score was £203,757. Although no provision was actually made on the accounts of the board for the 1981-82 period, an amount of IR£154,970.50 was written off as part of a cumulative total of IR£373,911 in the 1983 accounts representing 50 per cent of loans and investments outstanding.
