Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - State Bodies Bad Debts.

61.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the provision for bad and doubtful debts made on the accounts of each State body or agency under his control in their most recent annual accounts and in the equivalent accounts for 1982.

Information on provision for doubtful debts is contained in the published annual accounts of Bord Fáilte. The most recent published accounts of Bord Fáilte, for the financial year ending 31 December 1985 show a provision of £30,000 for doubtful debts, while a nil provision was made in the equivalent accounts for 1982.

This information is not, however, contained in the published accounts of the other State bodies under my aegis, namely Aer Lingus, Aer Rianta, the B & I Company and CIE. Since it is the judgment of the directors and auditors of these bodies not to publish this information, I do not consider it appropriate for me to do so.
