asked the Minister for Health the names of the members of the review group on funding the health services and the terms of reference given to the group.

asked the Minister for Health if, in the setting up of the proposed review body on the funding of the health services, he intends drawing on the expertise available in both the public and private sectors of the health services; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 8 and 198 together. Deputies will be aware that I have recently announced the establishment of a broadly-based commission with the following terms of reference:

To examine the financing of the health services and to make recommendations on the extent and sources of the future funding required to provide an equitable, comprehensive and cost-effective public health service and on any changes in administration which seem desirable for that purpose.

The Chairman is Dr. Miriam Hederman-O'Brien and the other members are:

Dr. Cormac McNamara, General Practitioner;

Mr. Thomas Moore, Finance Officer, North Eastern Health Board;

Mr. Donal O'Shea, Chief Executive Officer, North Western Health Board;

Dr. J. A. Robins, Assistant Secretary, Department of Health;

Mr. P. Teahon, Assistant Secretary, Department of the Taoiseach.
