Vol. 373 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cork Pier Repairs.

59.

asked the Minister for the Marine if he will make arrangements directly or through the EC Regional Fund for the repair and improvement of a pier at Union Hall, County Cork, which is totally inadequate for the number of boats using it, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At present my Department's engineer is examining a development proposal for the harbour at Union Hall which was commissioned by the Union Hall Fishermen's Co-Operative and submitted to my Department by Cork County Council. Until a full engineering report and estimate of cost are available, I cannot say what improvement works, if any, would be justified in the fisheries interest at Union Hall.

Harbour development projects with an investment in excess of £35,000 are eligible for consideration for assistance from the European Regional Development Fund.
