asked the Minister for Defence the various rates of gratuities for members of the First Line Reserve since 1946; the amount and numbers paid in the years 1968, 1969, 1978, 1979, 1985, 1986 and to 30 September 1987; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick West): The rates of gratutity and the amounts and numbers paid in each of the years from 1985 onwards are set out in the following statements.

The present arrangements for payment of the gratuities are regarded as suitable.
