Vol. 374 No. 8

Written Answers. - Kilconly (County Galway) School.

89.

asked the Minister for Education when approval to go to tender will issue to build an extension to Kilconly national school, Tuam, County Galway and if her attention has been drawn to the gross overcrowding at the school.

The national school at Kilconly, County Galway, was erected in 1975 and comprises three classrooms together with a general purposes area which has been divided to form two classrooms. The staffing is five teachers, including the principal. My Department are agreeable, in principle, to grant-aid the provision of an additional classroom, but because of pressure on its 1988 capital provision for the building of national schools are not in a position at present to proceed with the planning of the project. I am, accordingly, unable to say when tenders may be invited.
