Vol. 374 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Transport.

90.

asked the Minister for Education the reason school transport is not being provided for persons (details supplied) in County Cavan attending Scoil Mhuire, Lacken, County Cavan; if transport will be provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

This family did not apply for school transport facilities either to my Department or to the local CIE office.

The children in question do not qualify for free school transport because they live less than two miles from Lacken National School. As a concession they may be allowed fare-paying facilities on the existing service to Lacken provided that there is no extra cost involved in facilitating them.

Fare-paying tickets are issued to the local CIE office on a first come, first served basis and currently cost £14 per child, per term.
