Vol. 375 No. 4

Written Answers. - Marino (Dublin) Air Pollution levels.

147.

asked the Minister for the Environment if there has been an increase in smoke levels and sulphur dioxide in the Marino area, Dublin 3 since 1985; and the measures which are being considered to alleviate this problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The smoke and sulphur dioxide monitoring station nearest to Marino is located in the grounds of St. John's National School, Clontarf. Results from that station since 1985 show an overall decrease in air pollution levels.

Levels recorded in Clontarf are generally the lowest among monitoring stations in Dublin City and conform with the standards prescribed in the Air Pollution Act, 1987 (Air Quality Standards) Regulations, 1987 (S.I. No. 244 of 1987).
