Vol. 375 No. 4

Written Answers. - Public Service Redundancy Scheme.

158.

asked the Minister for the Environment the terms on which the groups or categories within the local authorities to which the voluntary early retirement-redundancy schemes have been offered; whether the extension of the schemes to other personnel in the Civil Service, health and non-commercial State-sponsored bodies, as announced last week, will also apply to the local authority service; and, if so, on what terms.

Local authorities had been authorised, prior to the recent extension of the voluntary redundancy/early retirement scheme referred to by the Deputy, to offer the standard terms of the package to all grades of staff, irrespective of age, except key staff or those required to maintain essential services.
