Vol. 375 No. 4

Written Answers. - Domiciliary Care Allowance.

205.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details where information regarding domiciliary care allowance is advertised; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that many people who qualify have not been informed of its existence.

A special leaflet giving details of the domiciliary care allowance and incorporating an application form has been circulated and is available in all local community care offices throughout the country. Details of the allowance are also given in the booklet "Summary of Health Services".

I am not aware of people not being informed of the existence of the allowance. Payment of the allowance is made with effect from the date of application. I do not propose to change this practice.
