Vol. 375 No. 4

Written Answers. - Counties Carlow and Kilkenny Unemployed.

21.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of people in Counties Carlow and Kilkenny on the unemployment register, who are in receipt of unemployment assistance and benefit.

The information requested is given in the tables I have attached and which I will make available to the Deputy.

*Persons classified as "Others" on the live register are those who furnish evidence of unemployment for credited contributions. They are not in payment.

The above table includes persons signing at employment exchanges in County Carlow and County Kilkenny, who are not actually resident in those counties. Similarily it excludes some persons on the live register who are resident in these counties but signing at exchanges in other counties.

However this table does provide a breakdown of the register by type of payment.
