Last July the Irish authorities, in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No. 3637/85, submitted an adapted special programme implementing a specific Community Regional Development Measure contributing to the improvement of the economic and social situation of the Border areas of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This programme includes the tourist related infrastructural projects to which the Deputy's question refers.
It is expected that the programme will be considered by the Regional Fund Committee at a meeting which is to take place next week. If it is approved by the Committee at that meeting, formal Commission approval may be expected in either December or early January.
