Vol. 375 No. 4

Written Answers. - Kerry Tourist Industry.

93.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the total number of people employed in the tourist industry in County Kerry for 1986 and 1987, if figures are available; and the estimated income for County Kerry from the tourist industry for 1986 and 1987.

I understand from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) that the employment figures sought are not available.

The CSO produce national figures for out-of-State tourism revenue performance only. Bord Fáilte, using their own survey of travellers, which is also applied to the CSO data, estimate that total tourism revenue, including domestic tourism revenue, for 1986 in County Kerry amounted to £70 million. It is not yet possible to estimate tourism revenue for the county in 1987.
