Vol. 375 No. 8

Written Answers. - House Improvement Grants.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give an assurance that all existing house improvement grants approved by his Department will be honoured; and that it is not his intention to set unreasonable deadlines in relation to the completion of works approved under the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

94.

andMr. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the widespread apprehension that the Government might terminate the house improvement grants for projects already approved or introduce an early deadline for the completion of work on these projects, he will give an assurance that the grant commitments to approved projects will be honoured irrespective of when the work is completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter to allay the fears of many people.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 46 and 94 together.

I have no proposals to introduce a deadline for the completion of works for which house improvement grants have been approved.
