Vol. 375 No. 8

Written Answers. - Blackrock Vicinity Traffic Congestion.

111.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the traffic congestion between Blackrock and the Merrion Gate, County Dublin; if he will consider the possibility of a contra flow traffic lane on Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the evening; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the traffic delays occurring on this road at certain peak periods. When the Blackrock by-pass and ancillary works are fully operational and their effects can be properly evaluated, the local authorities concerned will consider what further measures may be necessary to relieve congestion, whether by way of traffic management schemes or road construction. In the meantime, the position is being kept under review by the authorities.
