As I indicated in reply to an earlier question on the subject on 4 November 1987, although this scheme has been terminated with effect from 13 October, adequate funds have been provided in the Estimates for 1988 to meet outstanding commitments which will mature in that year.
This scheme is being phased out in the interests of good financial management, as there is no evidence to suggest that adequate quantities of private turf would not be produced in the absence of State assistance.
