asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details for each local authority in respect of each year from 1983 to date regarding (a) the total amount levied in domestic water charges (b) the total amount paid and (c) the total amount still outstanding.

In so far as 1983 and 1984 is concerned the information sought by the Deputy is contained in the reply to Question No. 574 of 2 May, 1985 (Official Report Debates, Vol. 357 No. 12 col. 2564). I refer the Deputy to Question No. 80 of 22 October, 1987 (Official Report, Vol. 374, No. 5 col. 1165) for details of the amounts collected in 1985. I refer the Deputy to Question No. 181 of 24 June 1987 (Official Report, Vol. 373, No. 13 col. 3430) for details of the amounts levied in respect of 1987 and for details of the amounts collected in 1986.
Details of the amounts levied in 1985 and 1986 and the total amount outstanding at 31 December 1986 are included in the following tabular statements.
Details of the amounts collected in 1987 will not be available until 1988.

Dublin County Council, Dublin, Waterford and Dún Laoghaire Corporations collected arrears of water charges in 1986 although no charge was levied in that year. These amounts were £1,044.878, £1,116,804, £1,744 and £296,143 respectively.
Cork Corporation's 1987 Estimates include a sum of £1,591,700 in respect of income from domestic service charges. Similarly Drogheda Corporation whose estimates were not adopted at 24 June 1987 include a sum of £233,290 in respect of income from domestic water charges.
