Vol. 376 No. 1

Written Answers - National Centre for the Blind.

191.

asked the Minister for Health if, in the light of the decision by the National Council for the Blind to acquire a new premises, he intends to proceed with the National Centre for the Blind in Rathmines, Dublin 6; when the work may commence on this centre; and if he will take immediate steps to improve the working conditions in the Rathmines workshop.

In the light of the decision of the National Council for the Blind to acquire premises which will be satisfactory for their purposes it would not seem necessary to proceed with plans for a National Centre for the Blind. The immediate need therefore is a review of the facilities for workers for the Board for the Employment of the Blind and officers of my Department will be in touch with representatives of the board in relation to this shortly.
