Vol. 376 No. 1

Written Answers - County Galway National School Sale.

194.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in granting consent to the sale of a disused national school building (details supplied) on Inishturbot, County Galway.

My Department's records disclose that my Department has since October 1985 been in correspondence with the solicitors acting for the school authorities regarding the sale of the disused national school premises referred to. The matters requiring my Department's attention were: (a) generally tracing the deeds relating to the school; (b) establishing the whereabouts of a particular lease; and (c) provision of a map of the premises. The matters referred to at (a) and (b) seem to have now been satisfactorily disposed of, but the matter at (c) which has been referred to my Department's professional advisers, is still outstanding.

The Deputy may take it that in principle my Department would have no objection to granting consent to the sale of the building referred to and I am asking that the outstanding aspects of the correspondence should now be dealt with as a matter of priority.
