Vol. 376 No. 1

Written Answers - Tax Rebates.

66.

asked the Minister for Finance if a tax rebate is due to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1 who should have been taxed on scale A instead of scale B.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer ceased employment on 2 October 1987 and submitted a claim for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment on 3 November 1987. The repayment due was calculated by reference to Table A and a cheque in settlement was issued to the taxpayer on 18 November 1987. Any further refunds which may be claimed by the taxpayer in respect of his continued unemployment during the current year will also be calculated on the same basis.

asked the Minister for Finance if the correct rate of tax refund issued to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and as this person is no longer in employment if further rebates will issue to him.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer ceased employment on 2 October 1987 and since then has submitted to the Inspector of Taxes two claims for repayment of income tax on the grounds of unemployment.A cheque in settlement of the first claim was issued to the taxpayer on 6 November 1987. The second claim which was made as recently as 25 November 1987 has been dealt with and the resultant refund will be made as soon as possible.

If the taxpayer continues to be unemployed he may claim further refunds.
