Vol. 376 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ballyhale (County Kilkenny) School Extension.

76.

asked the Minister for Education if the site for the extension of Ballyhale, vocational school, County Kilkenny has been purchased; when work on the extension will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A site for the extension of this school has not yet been purchased. Architectural planning of the proposed extension is at an advanced stage and the total cost of the project is estimated at £800,000. However, the restriction on the relevant capital allocation, which the Government considers necessary under its Programme for National Recovery, precludes my Department from incurring expenditure on any new building projects this year or next other than on minor capital works of an emergency nature. In the meantime my Department is reviewing the necessity for all projects currently in course of planning.
