Vol. 376 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Youth Development Programme.

84.

asked the Minister for Education if she has now received a proposal from the Ballyfermot Youth Federation, Dublin 10 for their three year youth development programme; if so, in the light of that submission, if funding will now be made available for the programme; the amount; when it will be paid; if she will be agreeable to her Minister of State meeting a deputation from the federation in the immediate future to discuss their submission; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Ballyfermot Youth Federation have submitted a proposal for a three year youth devleopment programme for the Ballyfermot area and are seeking funding from my Department for the project. I am having this proposal examined in the context of the recent allocation of £4 million to my Department from the national lottery for disadvantaged youth projects. No decision has yet been made concerning the distribution of these funds.

Ballyfermot Youth Federation have already met with the Minister of State at my Department in relation to the needs of the area. Should a further meeting be found necessary it can be arranged.
