Vol. 376 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funds.

68.

asked the Minister for Education if an application for the national lottery funds (details supplied) was approved; if it will be considered for funding next year; and if she will make a statement clarifying the extent of the national lottery funds available for County Wexford.

My Department are aware of local proposals for the provision of a swimming pool at Enniscorthy.

The secretary of Enniscorthy swimming pool and sports complex building fund committee was notified in a letter dated 24 February 1987 that under the terms of my Department's capital grant scheme for the provision of recreational facilities financial aid may not be given in respect of the construction of swimming pools. Funds may not be provided for the project, therefore, from the allocation of £4 million recently made to my Department for the operation of the scheme.

The allocation of the lottery funds is currently receiving consideration in my Department and I am not in a position, at this time, to indicate the extent to which projects in County Wexford will benefit from the national lottery.
