Vol. 376 No. 5

Written Answers. - Discharge of Patients.

174.

asked the Minister for Health the number of geriatric and psychiatric patients who have been committed to the care of relatives as a result of hospital closures; and the support which such relatives are receiving from health boards.

No geriatric or psychiatric patients have been committed to the care of relatives as a result of hospital closures as such. Patients are only discharged to the community from hospital when they have been medically assessed as suitable for discharge. If required, persons discharged from hospital are provided with appropriate support by the communitybased services.
