Vol. 376 No. 5

Written Answers. - Maynooth (Kildare) Bathing Facilities.

202.

asked the Minister for Education (a) whether there exists in her Department an application for grant aid for the provision of a swimming pool in Maynooth, County Kildare (b) whether it is proposed to approve such a project (c) if she would identify the possible source of funding for such a project (d) if the project was considered or will be considered for funding from the national lottery fund and (e) whether funding has been made available and by what means, to similar projects throughout the country in the current year: whether it is expected that funding will be available for such projects in 1988; if she will actively consider this project in the near future; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department are aware of proposals for the provision of a swimming pool in Maynooth, County Kildare.

There are no funds, including national lottery moneys, at my Department's disposal to assist a project of this nature. The provision of public bathing facilities is not a matter for my Department and would fall more properly for consideration within the ambit of the Department of the Environment.
