Vol. 376 No. 5

Written Answers. - Irish Prisoners in British Prisons.

52.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the need for a special section in the Irish Embassy in London to deal with Irish prisoners in British prisons; and the action, if any, he intends taking in this regard.

The Embassy in London looks after the interests of Irish prisoners in British jails to the maximum extent possible. The resources available to the Embassy to respond to the interests of these prisoners are reviewed periodically. In this regard, I would like to say that a review of this issue is under way at present.
