The telephone number 726333 no longer exists. It was changed on 20 October 1986 to the main departmental number 786444. The alteration was widely advertised in the daily newspapers and an automatic recording on 726333 directed callers to the new number until it was published in the 1987-88 telephone directory. The number 786444 appears also on departmental literature and claim forms.
The second telephone number quoted, 743021, never belonged to any section of my Department.
