Vol. 376 No. 5

Written Answers. - Unpaid Taxes.

155.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total balance outstanding and the amount likely to be collected in unpaid taxes for (a) land tax and (b) agricultural land.

On the basis of the information available to my Department and subject to change depending on the outcome of appeals currently in train, the arrears of farm tax due in respect of 1986 amounted to £1.327 million at the end of July, 1987. Unpaid agricultural rates amount to approximately £19.9 million. I am not in a position to speculate on the amounts likely to be collected in the future.
