Dáil Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 2 Feb 1988

Vol. 377 No. 3

Report of Committee of Public Accounts.

I move:

That the report of the Committee of Public Accounts on the Appropriation Accounts for the year 1982 and 1983 be laid before the Dáil; and

That the Report, Proceedings, Minutes of Evidence and Appendices be printed.

I know this is being taken without debate but is it envisaged that we will have an opportunity of discussing these reports? The value of their work is very important and would form a most useful focus for a discussion in the House.

It is an appropriate matter for discussion between the Whips.

I raise the issue because we do not order business, that is a matter for the Government. I submit it respectfully as an issue warranting consideration.

May I make a comment?

Certainly, Deputy.

For the information of the House, all the reports of the Committee of Public Accounts are up to date and we are operating on the 1986 accounts. The committee will be writing to the Whips seeking time in the House to debate all these reports.

Question put and agreed to.
