In 1987 total debt service payments amounted to £2,118 million, of which £1,396 million was accounted for by domestic debt service payments and £722 million by foreign debt service payments. The estimate for total debt service payments in 1988 is £2,173 million. It is not possible, at this stage, to break down the 1988 figure into its domestic and foreign components. This will depend in part on the split between domestic and foreign borrowing in 1988.
