Vol. 377 No. 3

Written Answers. - Eligibility for Pension.

30.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will allow service in Dublin Corporation and the Eastern Health Board to be taken into account for pension purposes for a person (details supplied) in County Kerry who is an official in the Department of Agriculture and Food.

Details of the case referred to by the Deputy were submitted to my Department recently because the Eastern Health Board were unable to find any record of the service in question.

In the absence of confirmation from the earlier employer that the service being claimed was actually given, it is not normally possible for this service to be taken into account by the second employer. In the light of some further information supplied by the individual concerned in this case, however, my Department are prepared to accept that the officer did indeed have prior service with Dublin Corporation. The Department of Agriculture and Food are being advised accordingly.

As there are still a number of other outstanding details to be completed I am unable at this stage to confirm that the service will definitely reckon. I will, however, write to the Deputy as soon as the case has been finalised.
