asked the Minister for Health when he proposes to allocate the £100,000 promised to the North Infirmary casualty unit, Cork, to enable the hospital to expand and to improve, as the present level of service at this unit is totally inadequate for the needs of the people of such a large area.

Discussions have taken place between the Mercy Hospital and officers of my Department in relation to the out-patient department and casualty facilities to be provided on the site of the North Infirmary. The present position is that I am awaiting a submission from the hospital of a specification describing the works to be undertaken and a detailed estimate of cost.
