asked the Minister for Health the present position regarding the proposed integration of the Health Education Bureau into his Department.

The position is that a new Health Promotion Unit consisting largely of former staff of the Health Education Bureau has been in operation within my Department since the beginning of January. In general it will provide the same range of services as the former Health Education Bureau as well as having the additional responsibility for developing a broad health promotion policy. In that regard it will work in close association with the Advisory Council on Health Promotion which I established last month. The membership is:

Professor Ivo Drury (Chairman), President of the Royal College of Physicians.

Mr. Tony Bronell, Registrar, Mary Immaculate Training College, Limerick.

Dr. H.D. Crawley, Former Director of the Health Education Bureau.

Ms. Eilish Fitzpatrick, Public Health Nurse.

Dr. Michael J. Gibney, Department of Clinical Nutrition, St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8.

Mr. Alan Gillis, Deputy President, Irish Farmers Association.

Mr. Michael Kileen, County Manager, County Council Offices, Longford.

Mrs. Mamo McDonald, Former President of the I.C.A.

Mr. Michael McLoone, Programme Manager Community Care, NorthWestern Health Board.

Mr. John Morrisey, Irish Life Assurance.
