Vol. 377 No. 3

Written Answers. - Assistant Librarian Post.

139.

asked the Minister for Education when the required fourth assistant librarian will be made permanently available to St. Patrick's Training College, Drumcondra, in Dublin 9 in order that the current sit-in by students who are very much affected by the shortage of staff, can be ended; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The students' sit-in is in protest against the curtailment by the College of the opening hours of the library which stems from the fact that the post of fourth library assistant has remained unfilled since February 1986 as a result of the embargo restrictions which apply in the public sector generally. My Department is examining ways of resolving the problem.
