Vol. 377 No. 5

Written Answers. - Balbriggan, Dublin, By-Pass.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he will allocate funds for the commencement, during 1988, of the Balbriggan by-pass, County Dublin and upgrading works on the Dublin/Belfast road between the Swords by-pass and the Dublin Airport entrance.

A motorway scheme, in respect of the proposed Balbriggan by-pass, has not yet been submitted to my Department by Dublin County Council. Accordingly, the question of allocating funds for commencement of work in 1988 does not arise.

All funds available for road works in 1988 have already been fully allocated to local authorities. Because of competing demands for other important road schemes in the country, it was not possible to allocate funds in 1988 for works between the Swords by-pass and the Dublin Airport entrance.
