Vol. 377 No. 5

Written Answers. - Church of Ireland School, Portlaoise.

51.

asked the Minister for Education having regard to the £6.5 million announced by the Minister for Finance in his Budget Statement for school building, if the proposed extension to the Church of Ireland primary school, Portlaoise, County Laois will now proceed without delay.

I would point out to the Deputy that the announcement to which he refers did not relate exclusively to primary school buildings. The position with regard to the building extension for the Church of Ireland primary school referred to (known officially as Maryboro' national school, Portaloise, County Laois) is that a revised sketch scheme has been prepared and referred to the school authorities for their consideration. The question of allocating funds for the scheme does not as yet arise. A decision in the matter will be made and conveyed to the school authorities in due course.
