Vol. 377 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

49.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the extremely inequitable treatment of young farmers who were fully qualified for the installation grant before the discontinuance of the scheme by the Government in 1987, and who would now be eligible again with restoration of the grant but have in the meantime completed the legal formalities of land transfer.

It is my intention that the installation aid should be backdated to 1 April 1987. An otherwise eligible applicant who was rejected under the original scheme because the transfer of the farm had not been completed when the scheme was terminated on 31 March 1987, may be considered under the new arrangements.

50.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a calf grant and a cow grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person named will be paid his 1987 calf premium, suckler cow and EEC special beef premium schemes grants shortly.

51.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment of a suckler cow subsidy will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The person named will be paid his 1987 suckler cow and calf premium schemes grants shortly.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of MCAs to a person (details supplied) in County Armagh; and when payment will be made.

The MCA claims referred to are the subject of administrative inquiries to establish whether the weights declared on the supporting documentation are correct. The inquiries will be completed shortly and payment of the claims will then be considered.
