Vol. 378 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

58.

asked the Minister for Finance the tax rebate which is due to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and when it will be paid.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that a cheque in settlement of the repayment of £143.44 due to the taxpayer was issued to her on 1 February 1988.

59.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the long delay on the part of the Revenue Commissioners in paying PAYE income tax rebate due to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry arising from the payment of a redundancy lump sum to this person by a company (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the delay in finalising the taxpayer's claim for repayment of income tax arose because, despite several requests by the Inspector of Taxes, information necessary to determine the correct repayment due was not provided by the former employer until 22 December 1987. A cheque in settlement of the claim was issued to the taxpayer on 16 February 1988.
