Vol. 378 No. 1

Written Answers. - Smoke Pollution.

96.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the concern regarding smoke emission from burners in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9, in particular the emission of heavy black smoke on a day there was a smoke pollution warning in Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have contacted the authorities at Beaumont hospital about this problem.

I am informed that the emission has resulted from items with plastic parts finding their way into the incinerator at the hospital. The problem has been brought to the attention of the hospital authorities and every effort is being made by the hospital to stop these items being disposed of by incineration. I am advised that the hospital authorities hope to have the problem under control shortly.
