Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prevailing Winds.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the direction of the prevailing winds in the month of February in each of the last five years.

The prevailing surface winds in February for each of the past five years were as follows: 1984 — Southerly to Westerly; 1985 — Easterly; 1986 — Easterly; 1987 — Overall no predominant direction but there were significant spells of easterly, southerly, and light winds which varied a lot in direction; 1988 — Westerly.

The above information is based on wind data measured at Dublin Airport in the east of Ireland and at Belmullet in the west.

Deputy Cooney must be going on a sailing trip next February.

The wind blows from Deputy Cooney's constituency towards my constituency.

The winds of change.
