Vol. 380 No. 3

Written Answers. - Training Advisory Service.

33.

asked the Minister for Labour the cost of the Training Advisory Service in 1987; whether AnCO received any contributions towards the cost of providing this service from the firms visited; and whether it is his policy to continue such a service.

The cost of the Training Advisory Service in 1987 was £8.8m and the contribution from industry for the promotion, assisting and implementation of training by the advisory staff of FÁS was £3.03m, resulting in a net cost of £5.8m in 1987, of which £1.08m is recoverable from the EC Social Fund. The remaining £4.7m was directly funded from the Exchequer.

FÁS is currently reviewing its services to industry and decisions on the future of these services will be taken in the light of this review.
