asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of recent reports concerning crime levels, he will supply the crime statistics for each four month period from January 1986 to date.

Records are not maintained by the Garda Authorities in a manner which would enable the information sought to be provided without the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time. Figures are, of course, readily available for the full years 1986 and 1987 and have been compiled for the first three-month period of each of the years 1986-88. These figures are as follows:
