asked the Minister for Defence the total area of land under his control; and the plans, if any, he has to dispose of some of it, particularly in the inner city area of Dublin.

Limerick West): The area of State owned lands administered by my Department is approximately 21,000 acres.

Arrangements are in hand for the disposal of the properties referred to in my reply to Question No. 15 of 29 October 1987. Specifically in relation to the disposal of State property occupied by my Department in Dublin city the present position is as follows:

Griffith Barracks: The portion of the barracks occupied by my Department is expected to be fully vacated by 1 September, 1988 at which stage it will be handed over to the Commissioners of Public Works for disposal.

Site at Cathal Brugha Barracks: The site of the old married quarters comprising about three acres has been offered for sale recently.

Site at Arbour Hill: The site of the old married quarters comprising about 2.5 acres is expected to be transferred to Dublin Corporation in the very near future.
