I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could only be compiled by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time and resources.
Certain statistics in relation to prosecutions for breaches of the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations 1963, are included in the Garda Commissioner's annual report on crime. Copies of the report for the years up to and including 1986 are available in the Oireachtas Library. The report for 1987 is not yet available.
