Vol. 381 No. 4

Written Answers. - Homeless Boys' Shelter Facilities.

145.

asked the Minister for Health if he will given details of the shelter facilities for young homeless boys aged 12 to 18 years in Cork city; and the services which they provide.

A hostel was established in Cork city earlier this year for homeless boys. It can accommodate eight boys and is run by Fr. Rock, O.F.M. at "Pioville", Ballyhooley Road, Cork. The St. Francis Training Centre, run in association with the hostel in Fr. Matthew Street, Cork, caters for disadvantaged youth including those under 18 years of age. The centre provides courses on trades and crafts and can cater for 120 young people. The Government has decided to allocate funds for the running of these services from that portion of the national lottery fund for disadvantaged youth which is being devoted to services for young homeless people.
