Vol. 381 No. 6

Written Answers. - Howth (County Dublin) Site Allocations.

18.

asked the Minister for the Marine the number of applications pending for the allocation of sites on or around Howth pier, County Dublin; the nature of each application; the type of development proposed; the expected job creation from each project; when a decision will be made on each application; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The number of applications pending for sites at the West Pier Howth is 22. The types of development proposed include the repair and servicing of fishing vessels, repair and manufacture of fishing nets and fish processing.

Sites will be the subject of leases and it will be a matter for each applicant to provide his own building on site. Because of the limited site area available it will be unlikely that more than eight projects can be accommodated. On the basis of information obtained from applicants it is estimated that 65 jobs would arise at full production stage.

On the basis of a layout plan of buildings on site prepared at my request by the Office of Public Works, I hope to select the most suitable applicants to whom sites should be offered.
