Vol. 381 No. 9

Written Answers. - Children's Play Facilities in Phoenix Park.

31.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the Office of Public Works removed the children's play facilities from the People's Park in the Phoenix Park, Dublin 7; when the play facilities will be restored in view of the start of the summer holidays; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Owing to major construction works associated with the rebuilding of the Phoenix Park boundary wall at Infirmary Road nearby, the playground equipment in the People's Gardens was dismantled to discourage children from playing close to the construction site.

The Commissioners of Public Works are taking this opportunity to redesign and update the facilities in the playground in the People's Gardens and a number of possible schemes are at present under consideration. I expect that plans will be completed later this year with work commencing in 1989.
