Vol. 382 No. 1

Written Answers. - Eastern Health Board Additional Buildings.

23.

asked the Minister for Health if his approval has been sought for the purchase by the Eastern Health Board of prefabricated buildings in the grounds of St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8, which was formerly occupied by the Institute for Clinical Pharmacology; the price it is intended to pay for these buildings; whether it is appropriate that the Eastern Health Board should pay for these buildings, as the Institute for Clinical Pharmacology had occupied this site virtually rent free; and if, in view of the reservations expressed in Dáil Éireann by the previous Minister for Health concerning the deal, he intends to take any action in relation to the proposal.

The Eastern Health Board has not sought my approval for the purchase of the buildings referred to by the Deputy. I am aware that various issues in relation to the premises are still under consideration by the board and I will await a communication from the board in the matter.
